The Last Post

"Now pardon me if I appear
To see beyond the now and here
To try and save myself
I could lose myself,
I could curse like hell
But I've lost the will to even try
If you ever doubt listen to the sound
No LiesThis is my last Goodbye"
KWS

"The Soul would have no Rainbow if the Eyes had no Tears"

Friendship is a plant of slow growth and must undergo and withstand the shocks of adversity before it is entitled to the appellation.
George Washington

I guess I really don't know where to start. But I'll give it a try. I don't want anyone to forget why this blog was originally started. It was a way to communicate with all of you on the condition and progress of Moriah after the accident. Unfortunately the progress never turned into what we had hoped and prayed for. I don't close this down lightly but I just feel it's the best thing to do. I would like to dedicate this post not only to Moriah and Mary, but to all of you that hung in there with me the past few years. To my friends and family I thank you. To all of you that have prayed for us, May God Bless You. Over the past few years the thought of Goodbye has been very difficult for me. I've cried many tears while saying goodbye because the reality is it might be the last one. As many of you know music has been one of my escapes throughout all of this and I hope that you have enjoyed the lyrics that I have shared with you. I guess music has been a form of prayer and thought for me. It has been a form of grief but also a form of celebration. Many times I've listened to a song that brings some tears and I think, why do I listen to this and why do I do this to myself. I guess that's why they invented the blues, so that triumph and celebration would have something to be compared to. I also had this thought after looking through lots and lots of pictures how much time I've spent fishing. So I thought I'd share some fishing pictures with you. It seems to me that it's not about fishing, but about spending time with our friends and family. To me there aren't many things better than being on or near water. One of Mary's requirements for a vacation or retirement place was water. I am forever grateful for that. It also gives us a connection to the outdoors and nature and the beauty of this world. Oh well sorry to pontificate. I started putting these pics together and had to minimize it to an acceptable level. As you know I usually have very little to say so here's the pics.

I'm living proof

If I could find a way

Well that's it for now. I'll leave this open for awhile for comments etc.

It is not I
It is you
It is you that I receive my motivation from
It is you that I receive my strength from
It is you that inspires me
It is my faith that guides me
It was easier when I knew nothing
For what a fool I once was
And even though I have learned so much
It is much harder now that I have lost so much
But it is you
Not me
Without you
I would be lost and weak
So may Gods grace
Continue to give you
The strength
That you
So unselfishly
Give to me
Where would I be without all of you??
Hope to see you down the road
God Bless
Keep prayin LOUD or soft.
Peace

My apologies that it's been so long since my last posting. I will be doing a final posting of the blog this weekend, so stay tuned for that. I will keep it open for comments etc but then I plan on shutting it down completely. I guess it's time to move along. In the future you can reach me at facebook or at msews@msn.com. I did want to let everybody know that the marker for Mary and Moriah's burial site at Oakhill Cemetary should be installed shortly. I hope and pray that all is well with all of you. Please keep Mary's mother Verna in your prayers as she suffered a heart attack this morning.

Hello everyone!

Not a lot new here, just trying to get thru another lovely Iowa winter. I have scheduled a trip back to Cabo to spend some time in the sun and on the water fishing. Should be a great break.
I had a real nice first week of the year with Danielle and Jawon. I just wish I could see them both more often.

I'm still trying to figure out what I'm going to do when I grow up.

God Bless Billy Powell!!

Hope all is well with all of you.

Hello Comrades,
Well lets see what have I been up to,
A couple of trips to Minnesota and a couple to Missouri,
Spent Thanksgiving weekend with my parents, Brother Jim and family, and Jawon.
A trip to Minnesota to see the Hawkeyes kick the Gophers out of the Roller Dome.
A trip to Missouri, a cold fishing trip with Laird, and I assembled the heaviest kitchen table ever made.

No Jawon we are not taking the puppy home.
Hey, where did everyone go?

Hey Ryan, isn't this Austin City Limits Festival great? Ryan? Ryan? Ryaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan?
Tough night? That will teach you to try and keep up with your brother!

Pretty handsome I'd say.

A special thanks to all of you who contributed some of your hard earned money to Moriah's memorial fund. I have disbursed all the funds that I have received. Remember these charities in the future.
Hospice of Mercy Hiawatha, Ia.
On With Life Ankeny, Ia.
Christ the King Lutheran Iowa City, Ia.
The Moriah and Mary Reiman Scholarship Fund of Iowa City.
Hopefully we will be able to give out our first scholarship this spring.
My gratitude can not be put into words.
Hope everyone has a great Christmas season. Please take a few moments and continue to remember us all in your prayers. 12-26-08 will mark 3 years of post tragedy life. Like Graham Parsons says
"Farther along we'll know all about it
Farther along we'll understand why
Cheer up my Brothers live in the Sunshine
We'll understand it all by and by"
We'll understand it all by and by"
God Bless

There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the mark of weakness,
but of power.
They speak more eloquently thant 10,000 tongues.
They are the messengers of overwhelming grief,
of deep contrition and of
unspeakable love.
Washington Irving

I have finalized all of the charitable memorials in Moriah's name. As you already know we sent a contribution to the scholarship fund in Mary and Moriah's name. I have also sent funds to On With Life in Ankeny, Hospice of Mercy in Hiawatha, and of course Christ the King Lutheran here in Iowa City. Words can not express my sincere gratitude to all of these great places and to all of you who contributed to Moriah's memorial fund. I'm also working on some ideas for the burial site for Moriah and Mary. Should have that wrapped up in the next couple of weeks.

How bout those Hawkeyes!! beatin up on Penn State. Man it was cold but the victory made it worthwhile. Had a great time with friends Brent, Grant, and John.

Congrats to Moriah's friend Maureen who was married on November 1st. Thank you Maureen for being such a true and loyal friend to Mo and also for honoring her at your wedding. Best of luck to you and Sam. When can we expect to see you on Dancing with the Stars???

Jawon was student of the Month for the second year in row. He's now in 1st grade. When I asked this time how he did it he said,
"I was well behaved, read a lot of books, and I'm the smartest kid in the class" When I asked him how he knew he was the smartest kid in the class he said,
"Cuz I'm the smartest kid in the class"
Simple logic I guess. I'll be seeing him around Thanksgiving which should be fun.

Other than that not much new. I'll be attending the Purdue game this weekend and then the every other year sort of annual trip to Minnesota for the battle with the rodents. I'm already sick of the cold weather so looking forward to a trip to some warmer confines at some point after the holidays.

Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.
God Bless

Comrades and Cohorts

"When I was young, my dad said son
Never be ashamed of where your from
There's nothin wrong with your last name
So don't be lookin for people to blame
Cuz hard times they come and they go
And most of the time their in the middle of your road
Same pain
Different ways
Don't you know Son
When it pours it rains
Hard Times"
Ryan Bingham from Mescalito
One of my most favorite recent albums

Well let's see what have I been up to. Went to the Hawkeye/Wisconsin game.
How bout them Hawks! Finally, hopefully the good play will continue.

Played in a trivia tournament and we finished second out of 50, and I think I may have contributed a couple of correct answers.

So in honor of trivia here you go

These are the real names of what people?(music)
No cheating now

Dana Owens
Bill Homans
Mckinley Morganfield
Ellas Bates
If you think you know without doing the google thing let me know. 20 Points 5 each. Ha!

Life continues to amaze me in many ways. Going through Moriah's things has put many smiles on my face and of course a few tears. In one of those kind of strange moments I came across a bunch of her CD's and found one titled "Moriah's Mix" So I decide to download it and the first song I hear is Billy Joel's "Only the Good Die Young" Maybe so, Maybe so.

I'm heading back to Mizzou this weekend. Trying to get the house set up with furniture, amenities etc. So it's about ready to accept some guests. All are welcome!!.

That's if for now
God Bless
Dale
